Musician Thanh Bùi believes that education through nurturing and developing talent is one of the keyways to promote the growth of Vietnam’s cultural and creative industries.
Last weekend, Thanh Bùi appeared at the introduction of SIA Career Pathways – the first professional, multidisciplinary arts education pathway in Vietnam. This pathway is designed for students who aspire to pursue careers in Music, Dance, and Visual Arts.
He shared that the program is designed to provide Vietnamese students with an international-standard arts education system, integrating academic training, practice, career orientation, and portfolio development, alongside a global network of leading arts institutions.
From his personal experience, Thanh Bùi observed that talent development is prioritized in many countries. However, in Vietnam, having talent does not always mean having opportunities for training and growth. Therefore, his goal in education is to create the best possible conditions for students to access their passions without being constrained by parental expectations.
The composer of the hit “Tình về nơi đâu” also spoke openly about parenting and educational orientation. He shared that he has talked with graduates who struggled to find jobs and discovered that many of them pursued their studies without clear direction, simply to meet family expectations.
“When guiding my child, I always say that I don’t care about grades, but whether my child has truly tried their best, challenged themselves as much as possible. I teach my child to compare themselves with who they were yesterday, not with anyone else,” Thanh Bùi shared.
He added, “To me, grades are not important. Whatever my child wants to do, I support them 100%, as long as they put their heart and effort into it and inspire others around them. Know who you are. Because when you understand who you are, you can be joyful, happy, and share love with others.”
Regarding SIA Career Pathways, Thanh Bùi hopes this pathway will help students properly orient their professional artistic careers.
The program includes three levels: Arts-focused High School – Pre-College/University Preparation; International Arts Diploma; and International Arts Study Abroad (Global Articulation Pathway), supporting students toward the US, UK, and leading arts institutions worldwide.
Addressing concerns about accreditation, Thanh Bùi affirmed that the program follows professional international accreditation standards. It also builds an ecosystem that allows students to gain real-world experience with experts, artists, and international environments. He believes that education will contribute to the development of Vietnam’s cultural and creative industries, and that a crucial step is integrating international standards into arts education to bring Vietnam closer to the global stage.
