MASTERCLASS – GERARD AIMONTCHE
On January 21, 2021, Soul Music and Performing Arts Academy will offer the second in a series of online Piano Masterclasses taught by internationally recognized concert pianists who are also outstanding teachers. This second online Piano Masterclass will be led by Mr. Gerard Aimontche, winner of a number of international piano competitions and a Blüthner artist. This Masterclass will be followed by a series of Masterclasses throughout 2021.
Through an audition and application process, young Vietnamese piano students from all across Vietnam who are at the intermediate and advanced levels may apply to participate in these Masterclasses. No more than three students will be chosen for each Masterclass. This is a unique opportunity for young pianists who are hoping to develop and perfect their skills to work with great piano teachers from around the world. During the Masterclass, each participant will have the opportunity to play one piano work (or several parts of a larger piano work, up to ten minutes, and then work directly with the master teacher on that piece(s) of music. All music for the Masterclass must be drawn from the classical repertoire.
All the Masterclasses will be recorded and then aired so that anyone can see what the experience is like. A very special feature of this series is that all the master teachers have agreed to be part of SMPAA’s international piano faculty and will accept a limited number of students for private online lessons by audition only. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before applying for the Online Piano Masterclass.
By participating, the Participant (“You”, “Guardian”) agrees to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Terms and Conditions, and the Participant represents and warrants that the Participant meets the eligibility requirements. In addition, the Participant agrees to accept the decisions of Soul Music & Performing Arts Academy (SMPAA) as final and binding as they relate to the content of the Masterclass.
1. Eligibility:
Age: Applicants must be 12 years old or older.
(Applicants from 12 to 16 years old need a Guardian)
Applicant level: Intermediate and Advanced
Language required during Masterclass: English
Music genre required: Classical
Area: Vietnam
2. Registration Information:
– All personal information of the Applicant must be accurate, not impersonating a company, an organization, or any person. It is strictly forbidden to advertise or propagate corrupt, religious – political, or cultural religions.
– If the Applicant chooses to register for the Masterclass, the Applicant agrees to provide and maintain true, accurate, current, and complete information about him/herself as prompted by the Masterclass registration form of SMPAA.
3. Intellectual property rights of materials:
– The Applicant is responsible for the content that he/she sends to SMPAA, including its legality, reliability, and appropriateness. The Applicant agrees that all content sent to SMPAA by the Applicant and all content created from any part of the entire Masterclass is the sole property of SMPAA and may not be used by the Applicant for any reason and should such occur will be considered a violation of SMPAA’s intellectual property rights and will be resolved in accordance with current Vietnamese law.
– By entering this Masterclass, the Participant agrees that SMPAA will be the sole owner of the Participant’s video and every part of video entered by him/her. The Participant understands and agrees that SMPAA, anyone acting on behalf of SMPAA or any of its representatives, shall have the right to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use in any media now known or hereafter developed, without limitation, the Participant’s entry, name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image, statements about the class, and biographical information for news, publicity, information, advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent.
4. Application deadlines:
– Application will be accepted online until January 8th, 2021.
5. How to apply:
– Complete the application form and attach the video link (Youtube, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc)
***Requirements of Video: Applicant must perform one piano work (or several parts of a larger piano work), which will be played in the Masterclass (total duration up to 10 minutes, the camera angle needs to show the full range of the piano keys and the upper body of the applicant).
– If the video registration is incomplete or does not follow instructions and regulations, it may be disqualified based on SMPAA‘s discretion.
– Participants will be chosen by SMPAA based on SMPAA ‘s discretion and judgment. Participants do not have a right of review or appeal. SMPAA’s decision is final.
6. Participant selection and notification:
– After reviewing all applications, Finalists will be notified by email and a phone call.
– Finalists’ ability to communicate in English will then be assesed in a phone call with the Head of Piano Department at SMPAA.
– The videos of the Finalists, whose level of English qualifies them, will be reviewed by the Master teacher, who will choose the Participant.
– If selected, the Participant will be required to participate wil in an equipment check and a technical check.
7. Other terms and conditions:
– A Participant may enter only once. A Participant must provide the information requested. A Participant may not enter multiple times by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules. If a Participant uses fraudulent methods or otherwise attempts to circumvent the rules, the submission may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of SMPAA.
– SMPAA reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms and Conditions at any time. If a revision is material, SMPAA will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at SMPAA’s sole discretion.
