SIA Annual Arts Scholarship
SIA Annual ARTS Scholarship is created to support the artistic studies of SIA students who demonstrate need and talent for one term at full tuition. The scholarships will cover both the practical lessons and musicianship classes for the music student or the classes in one genre of dance for dance students.
The scholarships are good for one term and must be applied for each term. A student may be awarded a scholarship multiple times if he or she qualifies. The scholarships are awarded at the beginning of a term.
The scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria:
1. Strong artistic potential
2. Significant financial need
3. Strong academic performance in school
4. Citizenship and community involvement
5. Potential as a future music or dance performer or educator
Applications will be accepted from students who are 08 years old up to 18 years old. The application will may include some or all of the items listed below.
1. A one-page written recommendation from at least one of the student’s present SMPAA teachers if the student has previous experience at SMPAA
2. An interview with the student by the Scholarship Committee
3. An interview with the student’s parents by the Scholarship Committee
4. An official transcript of the student’s grades in school for the two previous years
5. All information that the family believes is important to give the Scholarship Committee the most complete picture of their financial circumstances
Members of the music committee and the dance committee reviewing applications will be:
For Music:
1. The Director of SIA
2. The Director of Music at SIA
3. The Head of the relevant music area (piano, guitar, voice, etc)
4. The Director of Operations at SIA
For Dance:
1. The Director of SIA
2. The Director of Dance at SIA
3. The Head of the relevant dance genre
4. The Director of Operations at SIA
Any student 08 years old up to 18 years old may apply for a scholarship. The completed application and supporting documents must be delivered electronically along with one hard copy to the Director of SIA. The Committee will review all applications and announce the winners. The scholarships will go into effect the first day of the relevant term. It is possible that no scholarships will be awarded. Decisions by the Scholarship Committee are final and not open to appeal.
