RECAP MUSICAL THEATER AUDITION

On June 15, 2025, SIA Theater Faculty hosted an exciting audition day to search for young talent for the musical theater class. This was an opportunity for the candidates to showcase their passion for performing arts and their unique skills. The audition was divided into two parts: Dance Audition and Singing Audition, providing a challenge and an opportunity for each contestant to shine!

Dance Audition – Exploring the combination of technique and expression

In the Dance Audition part, the candidates demonstrated their dancing skills through a series of movements blending jazz, ballet, and foundational dance techniques. It was not only about technique, but also about powerful expression through every step.

Singing Audition – Bringing emotion into every melody

The Singing Audition presented a different challenge, where contestants were required to not only sing but also convey emotions through lyrics, rhythm, and pitch. The judges listened carefully and assessed how the candidates expressed emotions, vocal technique, and their alignment with musical theater requirements.

The Musical Theater Audition on June 15, 2025, would not have been complete without the involvement of talented and experienced judges in the field of musical theater and performance.

Mr. Jay-Thiện Nguyễn – Head of Khoa Theater SIA – Actor | Director | Educator | Musical Theater Producer | Founder – Impact Theatre Saigon & Encore Academy

With a solid educational foundation and rich experience, Thầy Jay-Thiện Nguyễn is a pioneer in developing musical theater in Vietnam. He holds a Master's in Musical Theater from Temple University (USA) under the Fulbright Scholarship and is an actor, director, producer, and educator. He is also the founder of Impact Theatre Saigon and a voice actor collaborating with Disney. Notable projects such as The Little Mermaid (2023) and Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) are testament to his successful career.

Ms. Thảo Ngọc – Singer/Actress | Vocal & Musical Theater Instructor

Cô Thảo Ngọc is a singer/actress specializing in Classical and Musical Theater, co-founder of Encore Academy and Director of Impact Theatre Saigon. With a passionate commitment and strong expertise, she has led over 30 performance and educational community projects through musical theater. Cô Thảo Ngọc is also an experienced vocal instructor, helping students discover and develop their voice in a sustainable and emotional way.

Mr. Nghĩa Trần – Artist | Choreographer | Dance Instructor

Thầy Nghĩa Trần is an artist and choreographer with extensive experience in dance styles such as jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. With a successful career working with renowned dance groups like Urban Dance Group (UDG), he has contributed to the success of numerous major art programs. Currently, Thầy Nghĩa focuses on training the next generation of dancers at reputable centers in HCMC, with the goal of bringing dance closer to everyday life and connecting people through the language of body movement.
