Percussion
The SIA drums & percussion curriculum offers students skills and musical sensibilities, building on the most natural instincts of the human rhyme-consciousness. The drums & percussion help learners to consolidate and develop a sense of how rhythms are organized in music. The required steady coordination of arms and legs helps students develop their physicality, build and maintain their concentration and ability to lead the music.
Learning Objectives
– Exploring the different timbres of the drum set and basic techniques
– Building arms and legs muscle control for appropriate force
– Learn music theory through the lens of the drums, with close attention to rhythms

Learning Outcomes
Beginner Level
– Understand the basic sounds of a standard drumset
– Appropriate strength control for sound production
– Basic control of simple rhythm at moderate paces
– Basic understanding and execution of a few modern music styles
Intermediate Level
– Acquire all knowledge and skills of Beginner level
– Achieve control over more complex rhythms, grooves and tempi
– Achieve better contrasts in dynamics and timbres
– Start to develop basic understanding and use of the extended percussion family
Adavanced Level
– Acquire all knowledge and skills of Intermadiate level
– Able to perform different grooves/styles of music
– Able to manage complex rhythms with changing meters
– Able to actively lead the musical grooves of many ensembles
– Further utilize the extended percussion family
